Arkansas Mom Releases Powerful Children’s Book on Autism and Mealtime Struggles

Feeding challenges are one of the most common and stressful experiences for families of children with autism. That’s why Arkansas mom and educator Keyundra Thompson is making waves with her new children’s book, Zaire’s Big Feelings About Feeding.

Rooted in both professional and personal insight, Thompson draws from her years in developmental preschool and ABA therapy—along with her journey parenting her son Zaire, who has autism and a history of airway issues—to create a story that helps others see the world through a child’s eyes.

“During this journey, we found out that [Zaire] not only had difficulties with breathing and airway disorders,” Thompson said, “but about a year ago, he was diagnosed with level one activity. The biggest hurdle has been feeding for him.”

The book addresses not just autism, but broader themes around sensory aversions that affect many people—whether they’re on the spectrum or not. Thompson’s goal is to help families and professionals better understand the everyday realities that come with autism, especially when it comes to something as routine as mealtime.

Zaire’s Big Feelings About Feeding is currently available on the author’s website: keyundrathompson.com, and will soon be released on Amazon and other major platforms.
